YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW FRUSTRATING A SCIENCE FAIR CAN BE!! in my science fair, i need to put staples on a piece of plastic one by one until the plastic drops. you have to balance everything, and if u blow it slightly or move it, it will drop. on average, i had to re-do everything 5 times before i got something that i didnt make an error on. aaargh!!!

a picture of a nice merry santa i found.

went to daniel's party today. it was FUN!!!! we skated, and i got to play on daniel's wii. now i understand why it costs 400 dollars year. or is it 300? i think the xbox 360 is the one that costs 300 dollars.
before i went to daniel's party, i went to tom lee and piano house to try to find a better piano. my piano, a sherlock manning, is OLD. extremely old. we're thinking of buying a steinmann (not steinway & sons) or a yamaha 52". my mom even said we could buy steinway if i liked it a lot. cant wait to see my piano teacher's expression when we get it!

i stayed at home and played piano and did my science fair today. this week, i actually worked on the feeling of one song im playing, and the teacher complimented on it!! :D that was great. i'll play more piano this week too. at least try to.
my science fair is taking an incredibly long time. i mean, i use tweezers and put one staple on top of that little piece of plastic one at a time. the highest number that i got up to is 300-something. i made clumps of staples and wrote down the number on it instead. still it's extremely tedious. i still havent finished 1/4th yet. ><
and i still have to study science. there may be a test when we come back.

i also went to garage and got $99.64 worth of clothing. thats 5 pieces by the way, so its rather cheap. today is the best day of my life :D:D

Levels of Suspension and Disbelief on Galaxy Quest

i dont think i actually believed Galaxy Quest very much. thoughout the whole show, i kept on thinking about how stupid it was. i hate shows that dont make sense/are stupid, but is funny because of that. why cant they have sensible humour? this stupidness of the movie constant reminded me that this movie isn't real, whereas in the Prestige, my level of suspension and disbelief was actually very low, cuz i was completely mezmorized by the movie. It was so captivating, I don't notice much around me.

The Willing Suspension of Disbelief
I think everything we comprehend envokes emotion, not just movies. books, for example. even boring textbooks make emotion rise. even if we know the situation is not real, we are able to place our feet into a character's shoes and feel part of what the character is feeling.
The emotion gets more intense, whether its happiness or sadness, anger or hatred, when the plot becomes more dramatic. when its old and boring, without drama, it makes us fall asleep, and thus, we do not feel anything. The emotion that rises because of something we watch keeps us interested.

now, my blog...

Anson's Reading

By the middle of the 1800's, it was thought the the Earth was at least a couple million years old. Charles Darwin tried to calculate how old the Earth was, but eventually, it was proven wrong. In 1824, WIlliam Kelvin was born. He was an extremely smart person who began university at the age of 12 at Glasgow University. He later went to Cambridge. By 1907, he had written around 661 papers, most of the papers about mathematics. In addition to these papers, he contributed to the science of thermodynamics, refridgeration, and made the sending of telegrams possible. in 1862, Kelvin predicted that the Earth was 98 million years old by using electromagnetism. Like Darwin, his prediction was wrong.

Joyce's reading:
Many discoveries in palontology were made in the 18th century. In 1787, the very first dinosaur bone was found in New Jersy. Since people did not know what it was, they decided to put it in a storage room, and thus, the forgot all about it. In 1788, Beaufort discovered another dinosaur bone, this time in Kentucky. Beaufort overestimated the size and strength of the dinosaur. He pronounced it to have the strength of a tiger. he also announced that the dinosaur to be extinct. SOon, many more dinosaur bones were discovered, and sent to France to be pieced together by George Cuvier. Cuvier added to the idea that catastrophies happened on earth which caused the extinction of dinosaurs. This idea opposed Thomas Jefferson's idea that the world was carefully ordered and that nothing becomes extinct.

Mike's Paraphrase
Lyle eventually lost his sight becase he was originally shortsighted to begin with. He worked as a professor of geology at King's College from 1831 to 1832. Although he worked on many theories, he never actually read Hutton's theories. He believed: that the earth was created by a catalysmic event, that all earth's processes were very slow and that it shifted. Many scientists read about his ideas. However, he couldn't answer simple questions like how mountain ranges were formed, how glaciers worked (he forgot about ice ages). He didnt think that plants and animals suffered from instant anhihilation and that these plants and animals existed since the beginning of earth. Geologists grouped rocks together by the time period they came from. There was a lot of discussion about these two time periods. So, to solve this arguement, the geologists added yet another time period between these two.

i tried sleeping early yesterday, due to a sudden urge to be as healthy as i can. it didn't go very well. i laid there awake for 1.5 hours, unable to sleep. it was a shame, to lie there doing nothing and finally falling sleeping at the time i usually sleep... maybe i'll try again today, see if i can change my sleeping pattern. god noes i need to change it.
theres a french and PE test tmw...its quite easy actually. i'll just study until my parents come home, play piano, read sherlock holmes, and go to sleep at 10 again :D

AWWW GOD...THREE WEEKS LEFT. gotta get my math mark up by 3 percent. one percent per week. can i do that, YES I CAN. I CAN AND I WILL. theres a difference between can and will. I WILL GET THAT THREE PERCENT AND GET THE A I WANT SO MUCH.
reading sherlock holmes isnt a bad way to end this rememberence day long weekend. its really good actually. ive read 3 of his stories this week, and i read a lot more when i was younger, but it still interests me. ive also read a book called looking for alaska. this book describes the life of a boy "looking for a Great Perhaps" when he stumbles upon and falls in love with a girl called Alaska. the first half of the book describes all the pranks he does with his group of friends (including alaska), and the second half of the book is dedicated to his thoughts and feelings after alaska's death. it was quite a good book...even with all that smoking involved.
this morning, while my parents were out, i watched sweet home alabama. the only reason i watched it was because patrick dempsey (mcdreamy in grey's anatomy) was in it. unfortunately, he only played the supporting actor. and his hair was weird in the movie.
ooh have i ever mentioned that reese witherspoons is pretty? i dont think i have. well, ive mentioned jessica alba and mariah carey. but not really reese witherspoon. geez, if all i do is mention pretty girls, ppl will start thinking in lesbian. WHICH I AM NOT.

rememberence day today...gotta think about dead soldiers. lol.
actually, i did think about them...for around 2 minutes or so. but what was really great about today was that my parents spent about a hundred dollars on food. dinner was goooood. it should've been thanksgiving dinner instead.
anyways, i finished most of my homework today. i didnt actually finish much, but theres not that much leftover. at all. theres no chinese and french school homework cuz i finished it last week...i finished my 3rd part of my memory book (1 part left to go), i redesigned my science fair project, and i finished math homework.
oh nooooo darn...french test on wednesday. forgot. ah well, i'll study a bit tmw. theres a whole day off tmw~!!! i'll play a bit of piano and do a bit of theory. and READ!!! i love reading, now that ive got the time for it :D

The size, mass, and all other properties of the earth have been discovered. There was a mention of a guy called Huttson who was the leader of the Oyster Club amongst specialists from many different areas. Huttson was extremely interested in geology. There was also a mention about Neptunians and Plutonians who believed different things in the field of geology.

today was fun. i went on tours all over my mom's company (it was only one floor), and i got to go to the site of a water sewage plant. they gave me a loooong presentation about using radio waves to detect the type of rock underground that was immensely boring, but with content interesting enough, as well as paying food for me in a restaurant!! (actually, the company paid for it cuz the daughter of the boss came today)
i got to finish most of my socials notes after all the touring, as well as math, though that didn't take long. now, i'll just have to find a different science fair project (or change the one i have now), memorize french, do chinese homework, do french school homework, and finish those applied skills activities. :D that is significantly less than this morning.

This time, Mr Olson read about the accomplishments of john cavendish. He found Ohm's law and the law of the conservation of energy and a whole bunch of things a century before they were found, but since no one looked at his work, all these discoveries were already named after the people who discovered it afterwards. Then there were a lot of stuff afterwards which were not as interesting, and thus, I do not remember them.

we went trick-or-treating today!!!! horray!!!
we walked all the way from 71st and fremlin to 54th and cambie. actually, we didnt walk in a straight line. we walked sideways a bit, and halfway through trick-or-treating (we were at around 65th street), we had to take karen's sister back home cuz she complained that she was getting tired. that means we walked a total of at least 30 blocks. by the time we got to 54th and cambie, it was already 9:30. my parents happened to phone at the time, and my dad came and drove us home.
i finally got a crush!!! horray!!! it feels awful to be without a crush. :( i mean, when i had a small crush last year, i thought no having to stare at the person was bliss, so i became crushless for 9 months. lol...i think the only thing it does for me is to give me a topic to think about before i fall asleep. if im crushless, i think about homework (especially science fair) and i am going to do them. then THAT keeps me awake for quite a long time.

black day tmw. lol. but still black day.
i have my socials presentation tmw, as well as my english speech and my science test. fun? really.
i feel sorry for those people who have the applied skills presentation in addition to all the things listed above. seriously, tmw is the day that all our projects are due. well, its like the MY hand-in-homework day.
ive been studying hard for science after i finished my 2-hour nap today. i feel ever so refreshed :D but i didnt play piano at all. really, i already passed 4 days without practicing piano, i dont see how im gonna make up for it by friday. maybe i should persuade my mom that it's halloween and i should get a day off from my overloading homework plus piano. after all, i DID have all those things due tmw.
arrrrgh theres so much socials homework now!! even though mr martin marks very fairly, he gives SOOO much homework!! ms hu gives a bit of HARD homework, and HARD tests, but mr martin gives a LOT of homework that we can quite easily do (i shall emphasize the A LOT part of it again). and when he gives a lot of homework, we have A LOT to memorize.
arrrgh english civil war notes due in a week. less than a week in fact. and i havent even started. how nice!!! it's my procrastination (again).
however, that is my only piece of homework other than reviewing for my chinese exam and the exercise for french school. oh and math homework and the PE sheets we have to read on the heart. that's not so bad. :D

yay!!! so much homework finished!!! all i have to do now is finish that essay on "Justified Actions" and study for the science test!! oh wait..i'll still have to ask Ms. Hu about the science fair...and write a big bang article on napping. oh english civil war notes too...this sucks. here i am, thinking that devoting my whole sunday to homework would make me homework-free. it certainly doesnt.
really...there is no part of the year when im homework-free. at all. there is always one project or another. i would really like one day with no stress. no piano, no french, no chinese, no homework, no theory, no anything. that would be soo nice. actually, i had that for 2 months during the summer, but that doesn't count! it was supposed to be the "resting" month.
anyways, here is my summary for the book on everything.
Lots of people went all over the world to measure something, I don't remember what it is. This guy spent 9 years of his life in another country trying to prove something that was already proven. YAY!! today, i am exactly 14 years and 3 months old. :D:D i feel oold. 27 has always been a special number to me.
it turns out that, in the chinese test, there wont be much need to study during the week, but there will be a looong essay to write as well as a looong part to read. i suck at those. if it were english, i would have been very happy it was like that. or i would be indifferent. but in chinese, nooooooo. i suck. so much.
It's multimedia blog today. I would like to compare pictures of the simplified chinese world "ai" (meaning love), with the traditional.

the one on the top is the simplified, and the one on the bottom is traditional. see the missing part? the part with three dots on top and roundish look on the bottom? it looks like this:

this little word inside the tranditional word (which they have omitted in the simplified), means HEART. What is love without a heart? do you think simplified words make sense? This is my arguement that traditional words are better (and make more sense) than simplified words. also, they're a lot prettier. don't u agree? traditional words are more pretty. and pictureistic.

arrrrghhhhhhhhh fricken SCIENCE, SOCIALS, AND ENGLISH. THEY GIVE A NEVER-ENDING STREAM OF PROJECTS FOR US TO DO!! this just pisses me off soooooooo much. AHH NOOOO TWO SWEAR WORDS!!! IVE GONE OVER MY LIMIT FOR A MONTH!!! actually, i dont have a limit, but im pretty sure my maximum was 2 swear words per month (excluding darn and damn; i say those quite often, but not in an offending way. i say it sometimes instead of "oh no!" or "aarrgh"). i really dont know how im gonna find the time to finish all this. plus my chinese mid-term exam is next week too. i guess most things would be finished by the end of this week. and we'll have another large stream of projects from MY classes. theres never EVER EVER a large stream of french, math, strings, or PE homework. well, for PE, thats obvious, and as for math and french, theres only 10 minutes of homework each class. i can practice string whenever i feel like. actually, i dont practice much at all, but i should. i will. and i will do theory. theory is very important. if i pass grade 2 rudiments, i'll get my grade 8 certificate. and after i pass grade 5...analysis, harmony, and counterpoint, i'll get my grade 10 certificate. actually, i havent done the practical for grade 10 yet. But doing all these exams will earn me a total for 8 credits. thats a lot.

wow, fifty blog entries. i feel old already.
mr olson, here is my paraphrase for what you read to us today:
Neweton fought with Leibnez for the crediation of inventing calculus. He also proved that the earth was not entirely round.
One of the people who tried to find the circumference of the earth by using trigonometry. He measured a part of the earth and when he calculated the distance, he was only 600 yards off. His two daughters married off to bad husbands and that fact added to his depression.
Another guy also tried to find the circumference of the earth by pretending that the earth is completely round (which it is not, as Newton already proved).
That's all I remember about what you read today, Mr. Olson.

Mr Olson, you need us to summarize what u read to us during applied skills today right? here it is.
There's a guy called Bouguer in the lease pleasant science school called the Royal French Academy of Sciences. in 1735, ppl tried to figure out how old, how big the earth was, and how it hung in space. A person measured 200 miles around the earth, and everyone became hectic.
A guy called Edmung Halley, sea captain, astronomer invented a map. He also wrote about opium and was a devoted alchemist. Halley and Rein talked about celetial objects circling in an elipse. 40 shillings were given to anyone who can explain why. Cook said he knew but won't tell anyone. Halley went to Cambridge to talk to Newton. Newton built his own lab. _________ (dont remember name) stared at sun for longest time possible. He got away with it, but had to stay in a dark room for a few days. He also stuck a needle through his eye to ssee what happens. He studied calculas in highschool and didnt tell anyone for 3 years, and devoted most of his life on alchemy.

yayay!! my parents bought more stuff!! they bought a hundred dollars' worth of shoes for me!! (thats two shoes by the way) yay!!!! oh and we went out to a restaurant to eat breakfast by the way. i havent done that since the end of summer. it felt goood. having a car = spending more money. its true. my parents got 10,000 dollars when they crashed their car in february. and they also got a year's worth of monthly bus cards. they didnt have to pay for insurance and gas anymore. thats a lot of money. but the price of that is the time wasted to get between places. take me for example. it takes me an hour to get to chinese school and back. it also takes 30 minutes to get to french school and back.
anyhooo (haha, im copying anne now) my mom gave me her two-zone monthly bus card and told me that i could take the bus to school for the rest of the month. i told her i wanted to sell it and take the money instead. she said ok. note - that bus card is worth 52 dollars today, 49 dollars tmw, 46 dollars on tuesday, etc.. somebody better buy it soon or its gonna loose its worth altogether.

Horray!!! MY PARENTS FINALLY BOUGHT A CAR!! after 7 months of not having a car, here i am, with a CAR!! ok that sounds stupid. but the idea is, we have a car again!!! its a blue corolla. yup..i wont say anything else.
i had french school today...then i had to go see my doctor at 12:30. since my doctor's office is in china town, and i had chinese school nearby at 3:15, i decided to stay there for a while. actually, i stayed in tinseltown. i spent 4 dollars on bubbletea, 2 dollars and a bit more on apple tarts, another 2 dollars and a bit more on mcdonald's, and another 4 dollars on a pencilcase and a file case. thats 13 dollars in total. i was bored out of my mind, believe me. although i brought my social studies to look at, it was soooo boring.
then i went to chinese school. it was boring too. and i got a load of homework. 7 pages of exercise, a re-write of my essay without mistakes, memorization of around 20 words, the copying of definitions, and the copying of the words that i have to memorize.
i had no idea before chinese school that my parents were going to look at a car. but after chinese school, they phoned me, and just said "dont take the bus today. wait for ur dad outside. hes driving a blue corolla."
and thats how they broke it to me. that they bought a car.

well, in total, i have got a good understanding of the civil war in ivory coast today by reading a wikipedia artical CAREFULLY. and i mean carefully. i read it slowly to make sure i got every sentence. it took at least an hour to read 7 pages. oh and i highlited some things.
i also read half of the assigned socials homework. remember the timeline we were supposed to work on? i finished about half of it. well, it didnt take that long, but i finished a bit!
i also finished my chinese essay, which didnt take long, considering the amount of time i took to do my chinese essays in grade 6. now it takes 2 hours long...which is still long, but not as long as before...

aaaaawwwwwwww today was exhausting.
when i got back from chinese school, i took the wrong bus. instead of taking the 17 OAK, i took the 17 UBC. i ended up in the middle of UBC before i realized, right across from the "University Chapel".. i went inside, borrowed a cellphone, and called my parents. my dad told me to take the 41st to joyce then turn 17 oak. i decided to keep on taking the 17 UBC till i reached the main stop.
aaaaaaaarghhh its gonna take too long to explain. and ppl will get bored. basically, chinese school stopped at 5:45, i took the wrong buses (but made it back in the end), my parents worried themselves to death, i came back 3 hours later, and they decided that mexico would be too dangerous for me. the end.

i woke up this morning with a sore throat. i have no idea why. but it sure is bothering. me. whenever i talk, a raspy voice comes out. its not laryngitis, im sure. well, i dont think ive ever had laryngitis before, but from what i heard, one cannot speak above a whisper when they have laryngitis. im not sure tho.
its another multimedia blog day...here is a picture.. of a very happy and full squirrel.

im exactly 14 years and 2 months old.
yay pro d day today!! guess what? i finished my english short story!! now i'll just have to read it over. and i did quite a lot of notes on newton, tho i cant say the same for socials. im doing okay tho...
tmw's friday...again. piano lesson...again. im actually not dreading chinese school this time. u noe, i finished my homework ahead of time instead of doing it right after french school, and it feels good not to procrastinate.

TOMORROW IS PRO-D DAY!!! IM SOOO HAPPY!!! i really gotta finish my homework tomorrow. or at least get most of it done. well, i still have all that socials, applied skills, and english homework to do. im about 1/3rd finished my english homework, 1/10 of my applied skills homework, but guess what, 0% of my socials homework. except for the map. i finished the map. and theres the science fair project that i have to look up for. -_- i did NOT vision my first pro-d day like this. i envisioned it to be me eating in front of the computer, watching grey's anatomy all day.
did i mention that on top of all my homework, i would have to play two hours of piano? i missed my practice on tuesday. sooo...i have to make up for it tmw. oooh goody. that sounds good. DOESNT IT? :@ *twitch twitch*
it seems that on every blog, all i rant about is homework. yes, homework is taking over my life right now. yes yes yes...goody goody gosh. i dont even have time to worry about the 6 laps i'll be getting on friday now. geez.

arrgh...gotta finish english short story by next monday. and i still have the isaac newton thing to research. oh and did i mention? I HAVE TO GOT A SCIENCE FAIR PROJECT IDEA AND SUBMIT MY IDEA BY OCTOBER 5TH! (that is, if i want a mentor, which i really DO).
well, i think i'll talk about lynching today. its horrible. ppl tie ropes to branches and and execute slaves when they misbehave. thats basically all i know. but ITS HORRIFYING!! they get lynched for running away. at least give them their life if they're not gonna be working for u! whats the problem with human beings killing other human beings?? generally, the same species of animals dont kill each other! even lions and sharks dont kill each other for the SAKE OF IT! we, humans, are an ABNORMAL, BLOODY, MURDEROUS, CANNIBALISTIC RACE! ARRRRGHH!!!

huh....still have to finish my english short story. its due in a week. so is the map. tho ive finished the map. the map test is in 2 weeks (so is the applied skills presentation), and....socials project and science fair proposal due in a month. tho it doesnt sound like a lot, it sure feels like it. i never find the time that i feel like doing homework that requires me to think (and not be able to watch tv while doing it). drawing maps are great. so is drawing pictures. anything that has to do with words and numbers take up my whole brain, and therefore, i cant digest what the tv says. or the other way around. its mostly the other way around. its like listening to 2 people talk at the same time. hmmmm...gonna give up homework for the rest of the night and watch tv.

i went to chinese school today. and french school. both were very boring. this time, i actually learned quite a lot in french school. theres a bit of homework too. i finished the exercises when i came back home, but i still have to re-write those 10 sentences in futur proche. that's alright. it'll take me 10 minutes max. ive already fininshed 5/6th of my chinese homework. excluding all the translating that i have to do from old chinese to modern chinese. and the copying of definitions. that'll take me...prolly an hour or 2. more like 3 hours. or 4. or 5. nah im getting ridiculous. it'll take about an hour to two hours. and theres piano to consider. ive got to finish waltz in e minor (CHOPIN!!! I LOVE HIS SONGS) and practice czarny op. 299 no. 19. well, lots to do tmw. better go to sleep! (or better yet, watch grey's anatomy since my dad's gone to sleep now!)
here is a picture of middle years...

String Theory Notes (Parts 1, 2, and 3)

Part 1
• String theory
• Universe 11 dimensions
• Universe made of strings
• EVERYTHING MADE FROM VIBRATING STRANDS OF ENERGY CALLED STRINGS
• Vibrate differently
• UNIFICATION of laws throughout the universe
• Every law points to one spot
Newton
• Unified heaven + earth in Laws of Gravity
Einstein
• Light is an extremely fast beam
• Solves Newton’s problem of not knowing what gravity is (??)
• Sun disappears: planets out of orbit
• Not true: takes time
Einstein thought of fabric of space time
• Curve of space time is gravity
• Curve caused by sun’s gravity
• Resolved conflict of Newton
• Ripples happen when sun disappears
• Earth doesn’t feel effects until ripples reach earth
Electromagnetism
• Telegraph  uses electromagnetism
• James Carl Maxwell (Scottish)
• Electricity closely related to magnetism
• Compass runs wild with lightning
• Compass runs wild with lightning
• Unified electricity and magnetism
• Einstein wanted to unify his equation with electromagnetism to get an ultimate equation

• Jump off building collide with sidewalk
• Sidewalk doesn’t break  because electromagnetism binds atoms together
• Gravity much smaller force than electromagnetism
Neil’s Bore
• Found nucleus
• Nucleus cannot be bound together by gravity or electromagnetism
Theory of Quantum Mechanics
• Predict possibility of one outcome or another
o Cannot predict everything
• All possibilities HAPPEN
• Can probably walk through wall
o But try for an eternity
• Einstein believed that everything was predictable still
o But experiment after experiment proved him wrong
Two Forces in an Atom
• Strong nuclear force – bind nucleus together
• Weak nuclear force binds electrons to nucleus (radioactivity)
• Strong nuclear force  think nuclear bomb when split
• Cannot put general relativity into other forces

Part 2
• Investigate blackhole
• Shortshield found that huge energy compacted into dot = black hole
• Center: tiny+heavy
o Use quantum general relativity
• String – everything in the universe as strings, vibrating
• String theory – can’t test, so it is not science, its philosophy
Two Sets of Rules
• Quantum mechanics – atoms (web of space chaotic, twisted, unpredictable)
• Theory of relativity – planets (web of space predictable, smooth)
• Set two theories together; breakdown, they conflict
• Scientists are not trying to combine everything

• Gravity, electromagnetism, quantum theory, radioactivity can explain the birth of a star
• Young physicist 1968 found accidentally an equation that explained string theory (this is the birth of string theory)
• Messenger particles (in between) drag things together
Electromagnetism + Weak force + Quantum Mechanics meld together when universe started
String Theory – particle of gravity (graviton)
Maseless particle
Anomalies in theory
• Solved by Michael Greene – made lecture called “Theory of Everything”
• Electron made of corks
• Corks made of strings
• Strings are so small, it is like the atom is the size of the universe and the strings is the size of a tree
• Strings vibrate differently
o Thus allowing different masses, properties
String Theory makes Quantum Theory Calm
• But this needs to be proved
• Universe may have 4 dimensions
o Perhaps a tiny tiny dimension smaller than atoms
• String theory proposes 6 other dimensions
• Dimensions are twisted and curled
• These dimentions control the way the string moves
• Strings may have open strands, causing 6 dimentions
o Which one is ours?
Five Unanswered Questions that I Thought Of
Is there a unified equation to unite the 3 forces of the universe?
How would you be able to experiment with string theory?
Are there really 11 alternate dimensions?
If so, which one is ours?
Is there even a theory of everything?
Questions I need to Answer:
What is the difference between theory and philosophy?
Theory is when a scientific concept is widely accepted to explain a phenomena, but cannot be proven
Philosophy is a set of individual belief that influence they way they live their life and the way they look at others.
When does a theory become a fact?
A theory becomes a fact when it has been tested and proven.
When will string theory become a religion?
String theory will become a religion if it doesn’t get proven for a long time.

Part 3
• Shortest distance between 1 points – straight line
• Albert Einstein said space could bend and create wormholes
• Space bend, distance between 2 points decrease
• Einstein says space can’t rip
• Wormhole doesn’t exist because of that face
• Strings calm chaotic world of atoms
• World of atoms rip, strings put protective shield over rip
• So space can actually rip
5 different string theories competing
• Ed Witman solved this problem
o Provided different view of string theory
• 5 different theories turned out to be 5 different ways of looking at string theory
• Called M Theory
• 10 dimensions (normal), 11 dimensions (M theory)
• 1 Time Dimension
• 3 Space Dimensions
• 6 Tiny dimensions
• Other dimensions
o  think movie – 2-D
o characters look like they can move, but really, they are stuck in a frame
• String can stretch 11 dimensions
• String called membrane (or brane)
• Can stretch as big as universe
• We can live inside a larger, bigger dimension
o Like living in a loaf of bread
• Gravity very weak electromagnetism 1000 billion billion billion billion billion times stronger than gravity
• Possible that gravity is just as strong as electromagnetism, but we can’t see it
• Strings may be open-ended – end tied down to earth
• Graviton strings tied together, leave our membrane
• We believe big bang was a bang out of nothing, not a little dot
• Could be caused by 2 parallel branes colliding with each other
• When membranes collided, there was debris
• May see signs of strings on other stars
• Two labs tried proving string theory by colliding two atoms together without their electrons
• Fermilab and CERN
Bonus: I would send Ptolemy because he was probably the first scientist who tried to understand the universe.

anyways, i got a little obsessed with grey's anatomy today. its a really good show! and prison break too. i like it.
theres the safety test for science tmw. i hope i do well *crosses fingers* im not gonna dwell on tests so much this year. im not gonna study 3 hours a day for a major science test for a week. that's just too much. instead, i'll look over my notes that day after class and just relax during the test. i think i'll do better that way too.
still havent thought up of a science fair topic. think think think!! hmmmm something ive wondered about...is heat related to the dryness of your hair? that answer is obvious... how about "does the amount of growth of fingernails relate to the amount of injuries you get?" hmmm or the amount of growth of hair related to the amount of injuries... hair and nails are made of dead cells afterall. anyhooo there's no way i can test those questions. i wont bother dwelling on them.

did i write that my cousin in china (who is 7 years old) takes english lessons and american english lessons?? gosh...she'll get even more confused! i mean, there isnt much difference. theres the pronounciation difference, and theres the little bit where the use the loo or the laboratory instead of the washroom. the word "crush" here would be "fancy" there, and one of their swear words is "bloody"...honestly, thats all the difference i can think of.

ahhhhh i finished a lot of my homework, espeically science. OH NO!!!!!! I FORGOT TO PLAY PIANO TODAY! shucks..it sucks. i slept for 3 hours and did chinese homework instead. now my mom's asleep...meaning i cant play. this sucks!!
i sorta did research on ivory coast. well, i skimmed through it. i'll look at it carefully tmw morning, and talk to my group in block A. i wonder if thanusan and kelly did any work? michael said he'll do some right when i asked him if he looked at it yet.
did u noe that piano is the shortened form of pianoforte, which comes from the latin phrase gravicèmbalo col piano e forte (literally harpsichord with soft and loud)? the first piano was built by Bartolomeo Cristofori, with the support of the Medici family. the 3 earliest pianos were built by him, and they survived into this century. the name of the pedals are: una corda, sostenuto and damper. i never use una corda and sostenuto...i have no idea what the symbol that indicates that i need them look like. as for damper, i use that a lot. everyone does.

i went to my first class of chinese school today. it wasnt that bad. i found that my chinese has improved. either that, or my chinese was always like that. i doubt it was the former choice. i havent done anything to do with chinese in the summer. nothing.
i just found out that it takes around 5 years to finish theory, history, harmony, and analysis. i mean FIVE YEARS??? are you crazy??? if i start now, i'll be in university when i finish it. and i can only take the ARCT if i finished those. im gonna try to break the record and finish it in 4 years :D how about that? and take grade 2 ARCT in grade 12...that is, if i have enough time to play piano in grade 12.
On top of all that, im pressured to do grade 11 math. i really need to get ahead in math, so that i wont have to worry about it during the school year. and i plan on memorizing at least 10 chinese characters a day. OH DAMN IT!! WHERE AM I GONNA FIND THE TIME TO DO ALL THESE??!! i really want to, its just that i'll be sleepless if i get to finish (and master) these things by the end of grade 12.

ooh goody goody gosh. my math teacher is a BUM. i prefer ms hu to him ANY DAY!! what kind of teacher doesnt let us take a test on a later date if we were sick on that day? i SIMPLY CANNOT BELIEVE HIM!! oh and guess what it says in our math textbooks? it told us to boil hot chocolate, take the temperature of the drink every minute for 20 minutes when its boiling, then graph it. all that for the purpose of graphing it! i usually only use 20 minutes MAXIMUM to do my math homework. there were actually 4 more questions like that. i decided to make up the results instead. theres NO WAY im wasting my precious time like that.
oh its feels good to release my feelings into this blog. :D im sorta glad i have to write everyday now.

ooh i havent written in so long. currently, im infatuated with lily&james fanfiction (from harry potter of course). it makes me wonder why i havent discovered them long ago. well, im close to finishing that grade 10 mathbook. turns out i noe more than half the stuff. and my violin teacher is still as bitchy as ever. im getting a new teacher this week.
I have finally started practicing for the grade 10 piano exam. the songs are quite nice actually. i started 4 songs already. one i already noe so well, i dont need to play anymore. well, its a short czarny study.
oooh and ive become obsessed with chopin's songs these days. i always liked them, but i really want to try playing minute waltz. actually, i DO have the sheetmusic from a book i bought in china, but its hard! argh! still, i can already play 4 chopin songs. all very nice by the way.

i finished the algebra book i was on, and i finished half of grade 10 mathematics textbook. i already noe muost of the stuff, surprisingly. i think i should spend more time on math.
my birthday came and went. we bought 2 cakes (one blackforest and the other yam), and i went to watch the simpsons movie with karen. anne got a boyfriend, surprisingly. good for her! im not exactly in a hurry to get one tho. i dont even want one at this age! maybe in 3 or 4 years or so.
my mom decided to keep our apartment in china and not sell it to anyone. arrgh. so nobody in my family are gonna go back to china this year. also, i really have to start thinking about my science fair project. what am i gonna do??
my violin lessons are going well, i suppose, but the teacher is strict. its great that shes going on vacation this week. i didnt practice 6 days in a row. my piano teacher bought me the grade 10 repertoire, study, and ear test stuff. im gonna start practising for grade 10 practical exam next week. i love the songs in there!! tho i didnt expect them to look so easy. well, i guess, as i practice more, the sheet music at my level starts to look easier.
my dad's birthday was yesterday. i couldnt think of what to get him, so i didnt get him anything at all. he didnt say anything. now i feel guilty.

we went to the UBC nude beach today. oh gosh, my eyes were burning! there were naked mothers and fathers, with their naked children. and there were ppl having sex too, i think. oooh the pain!!
my new violin teacher is soo snobby. she says (in her list of rules) that she lets us inside 5 minutes before the starting time of our lessons and sit on her couch because she "respects us and wishes us 5 minutes of rest". i mean, we're basically her employers here! give us at least the right amount of respect! also, if we want to go on holiday and miss a class, we have to put down a "deposit". that deposit will be used for extra lessons in the future in addition to our normal classes. BITCH!

we went hiking on monday, canada day. it was fun. i climed a full 4 km up grouse mountain. it took longer than i expected, partly because there was a little girl dragging me. the view from the top was spectacular. we ate pizza while admiring the view. my dad and the little girl's dad climed down the mountain while the girl and i came down by skyride. my mom treated us to starbucks frappucinos when we met her, and afterwards, we went to eat vietnamese noodles.
today, karen and i went out with the intention of bowling in mind. it turns out that the bowling alley doesnt open until 2 oclock. so, we went to an antique shop, looked around (karen bought some records that she thought would be worth quite a lot later), and went to superstore. we didnt buy much at superstore, only weird-tasting food that karen likes. u noe, the pickles and salted olives? i ofund those quite hard to eat.

i think thats basically it, outside from phonenumbers. did u noe this guy in japan memorized to the 100,000th place after the decimals point of pi? crazy. but the world record that had actually been presented to the judges was 26 thousand something after the decimal point, recited by a chinese guy who recently graduated from university. it took him 24 hours and 6 minutes.

i watched 1/3rd of happy feet today. it was good, only i had to go to metrotown with karen and anne before i was finished. we went around, trying on clothes. karen and anne bullied me. their never-ending teasing annoys me so. when they kept on saying i was following them around, i looked at karen seriously and told her to stop it. and i pretended to punch her head twice, stopping quite near her head. that did the job. they didnt bother me again. i just think that karen gets so mean when shes shes with anne. not that anne's mean, its just that they think of never-ending things to tease me about. im tired of this. i wish they could stop. next time they say anything about my hair, i dont really tease karen. why should she tease me?

today was one of the most boring days of my life. i sat in front of the computer, doing nothing, played piano, and did math. actually, i played 2 games of solitaire and 2 games of chess. i won both :D i think im getting better at chess. i mean, ever since i discovered that i could play a game against the computer, ive been playing at least once a day. i keep on cheating tho. cuz ure allowed to undo. and as many times as you like too!
karen downloaded mr and mrs smith, she asked me for the codec, i found the URL, she watched it. oh shes still online! aw darn shes not replying.
i started reading pride and prejudice. its ok, considering i didnt get bored after 5 pages. actually, i think i would finish the whole book. probably..
i hope aviator finishes downloading tmw. i really wanna watch it. then after that, i wanna watch the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe. then, bridge to terabithia. after that, return of the king.

yesterday was sooo fun!!! i got my year book signed, by my classmates, and by some of my teachers. we then went to shamisen sushi, where karen and i talked with daniel and michael while eating. i think i tried everything except dumplings. we watched pirates of the caribbean at 2:00 to 5:00, then we went to get slurpies.
when we came back, guess what we talked about to michael ho? whether he was planned or not. that was weird, but karen and michael both said they were "an accident". ... i was planned, i asked my mom when i got home.

Catch the Reading Bug
When you're bored and you're restless
And you don't know what to do
TV is useless,
The computer is too;
When they ask you what you want
And all you can do is shrug,
The best thing for you to do
Is catch the reading bug!

When everyone's on holiday
And all your friends are gone,
They're trekking mountains in Nepal
Or paddling up the Amazon,
And you're left all alone at home
Feeling like a slug,
The only thing for you to do
Is catch the reading bug!

How do you catch the reading bug?
Where do you start to look?
Head to the library,
And open up a book!
Once you've started reading
You might find you just can't stop--
Morning, afternoon and night,
You'll read until you drop.

Once you've caught the reading bug
There's nowhere you can't go
You'll discover wild amazing things
You didn't know you didn't know
Adventure, fun and mystery
Wait between the covers
The reading bug unlocks deep secrets
Known to all book lovers

But one night while you're reading
From the pile stacked by your bed
An errant little notion
May wander through your head,
With all those books you want to read,
You'll wonder, which is true:
Did you catch the bug
Or did it catch you?

this is gay. no offense.
